My favourite purchases from Canada and America

Categories Health & Beauty, TravelPosted on

Another big difference in Canada and America compared to the UK,  is the variety of products and food available. I’ve compiled a few of my favourite skincare and make-up products that got me through this cold weather, as well as a few sneaky food items. (Some of these products are available in the UK that I only discovered whilst away, but others should be available to purchase online)

Skincare

Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Face Sheet Mask – A great and rather affordable discovery that was needed during desperate times. These single sheet-masks were perfect when it started to hit those negative temperatures in Canada. There are three different types to choose from Green Tea, Pomegranate or Chamomile which I chose.

Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream – This was also a staple for helping me through the cold weather. Although a more expensive purchase, the thick textured moisturised was packed with hydration and left my skin feeling well protected. And we can’t argue with the packing….I mean a rose gold lid…come on!

Garnier Soothing Facial Mist – This was not exactly a necessary step in my skincare routine, but while I was in Canada I wanted to make sure my skin was as fresh and hydrated as it could possibly be. From having eczema I know how irritating it can be to have dry and flaky skin. Although the mist did not entirely combat this, it did reduce any feeling of dryness with a quick spritz of mist to make my face feel more hydrated and awake.

Bath  and Body Works Vanilla Handcream – A divine vanilla scented handcream that followed me everywhere.

Fragrance

Bath and Body Works Champagne Toast Mist – It was so hard to choose a fragrance from Bath and Body Works and it took a lot of willpower to not buy everything in the store. However, I finally settled on Champagne Toast which smells pretty self explanatory and with a lot of citrus notes. Bliss.

Make-up

L’Oreal True Match Foundation – This is sold in the UK but with different packaging. The bottle I picked up in Canada was definitely a lot easier to travel with due to its small size and the formula was a great base to my make up routine.

L’Oreal Colour Riche (shade 976) – A dark lip was something I needed in my make up and once again L’Oreal delivered. This was a great formula that lasted during evenings out and was also a rather great colour during the autumn and winter months.

Burt’s Bees Moisturising Lip Stick – A another pink nude was not something I needed in my collection due to my numerous lipsticks in almost exactly the same shade. But the Burt’s Bees formula was a great daytime staple with or without makeup and left my lips feeling moisturised throughout the day.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara – Again this is sold in the UK but with different packaging – ROSE GOLD. Can we all tell I have a little obsession with rose gold right now?

Glossier Boy Brow (Clear) – When I was lucky enough to visit New York, the Glossier show room was one of my top destinations to visit. After dragging my friend along to find the store, I definitely wanted to buy something I had not used before. The popular eyebrow gel seemed like the obvious answer and I was not disappointed. Having naturally thick eyebrows means I luckily don’t have to do much to them. The eyebrow gel was great at making my brows seem more presentable with just a few strokes.

Food

Made Good Granola Bar – The most important thing here is that this was a NUT-FREE granola bar. I know there are quite a few nut-free granola bars but I am still yet to discover one that is actually packed with flavour. The allergies were clearly listed on the front of the packaging which was a nice suprise and the bar made for a great breakfast or afternoon snack.

Fuzzy Peaches – I tried these sweets with one of my Canadian friends and I really didn’t understand what was so great about them. But after trying them….I was converted. These little peach sweets tasted exactly like peach squash in sweet form and they were AMAZING. It’s safe to say I’m a little addicted and I’m quite devastated I can’t buy them back in the UK. But if anyone knows where I can get them from…please let me know…please…
