Three days and two nights in Edinburgh and of course we were graced with some wonderful Scottish weather; rain and fog. Despite worrying about my curly hair making an appearance at every chance, I had so much fun on this trip as it was my first time travelling with just my twin and a few friends. So, as always here are some of my favourite moments on this trip – no I didn’t meet Richard Madden or Shrek, but we did find authentic Irun Bru in a glass bottle. So, still a small victory, right?
Edinburgh Castle
If there was no fog and we could see the views of Edinburgh this would have been my favourite place to visit. Although the minimal views and pictures meant that it was hard to enjoy the castle, the architecture and learning about this history of Edinburgh such as visiting the replicated prisons did make for a good visit. This made you forget about the horrible weather and really allow you to take in the sights. It’s not every day you visit a castle, right? I would definitely love to go back here again as I can imagine it would be stunning in the summer.

Montpelier’s
A nut-free kitchen anyone? After recently been refused to eat a breakfast place in Manchester as they don’t serve anyone with a nut allergy, it was a delight to hear this. I ordered the maple syrup and bacon pancakes, they were the perfect mix of soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. I can’t wait to go back! I would definitely recommend making a reservation as this is a popular lunch spot. Click here to check out their website or make a reservation.

Victoria Street
Or as I like to call it Balamory 2.0. This was quite possibly my favourite spot and was just a few minutes away from the hostel I was staying at. So luckily, we got to walk along the road quite a few times. There are a lot of cafés, fish and chip shops and Harry Potter merch stores but it’s really the exterior multi-coloured shops that are breath-taking.
Grass Market
The hostel I stayed at (Kickass Hostels) was located in Grass market. There were so many restaurants, hotels and bars in this area. I would definitely recommend staying here as it’s so easy for meal times and you get an excellent view of the castle when you’re walking around!
(The view opposite the hostel!)
Princes Street
Shops, shops and more shops. This is one road of heaven. If you need to get you’re shopping done and get a good meal for lunch this is the place to be. The street is right opposite the entire Edinburgh Castle. So, what’s better than shopping or having a cup of coffee in Starbucks with a view?
