Boston – the home of Matt Damon, Harvard and the tv show Cheers. Although I wasn’t able to actually get inside the Cheers Bar (as I’m not yet 21!), I was still able to visit various locations in Boston that I’ve seen and heard so much about.
These are some of my favourite moments from my weekend trip to Boston and it was a great way to start of the Christmas season in a magical place I never thought I would visit!
The Freedom Trail
This was an activity that incorporates a scenic walk along with learning a bit of history about Boston. You get to follow the Freedom Trail in Boston, starting from Boston Commons, with a dressed tour guide and hear a few cheesy jokes along the way. After your tour you can choose to carry on walking along the trail by following the red bricks on the pavement.
Bunker Hill Monument
Before I say anything, be prepared for a lot of walking, 294 steps to be exact. Bunker Hill is a stunning monument that was built to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill. It’s in a gorgeous and calming area that’s great for taking pictures. But once again, just be prepared for walking up a lot of steps, because someone wasn’t…
Tatte
Instagram goals and delicious food, what more do you need from a restaurant? I actually went there twice in one day for breakfast and lunch, but they were in different locations! For breakfast I had a morning bun which was a delicious cinnamon croissant but more importantly it was nut-free. For lunch I had a shakshuka which was a great comfort dish especially as it rained all day when I ate this.
Cheers Bar (Replica)
I’ve grown up watching Frasier and can appreciate the significance of the Cheers Bar in Boston. Although a lot of people seemed to have the same idea as it was very packed inside with a long queue, I was still able to get some great shots outside of the bar!
Acorns Street
The Street had stunning houses all ready for Christmas. It’s a must see no matter what time of the year and is definitely a great picture spot!
Harvard University
An easy way to see you went to Harvard without studying there, take a tour! Not only was the campus stunning but you also get to learn a lot about the architecture, status and the celebrities that went there. Who know Matt Damon was a freshmen there for three months and then dropped out?
Quincy Market
This is a great place to go if you can’t decide what to eat. I mean this place has EVERYTHING. From pizza to clam chowder and sweet treats, Quincy Market will have something for everyone.
